VixFi – Vixen SkySensor 2000 GoTo System Wi-Fi adapter

VixFi is a WiFi adapter (module) for wireless control of the Vixen SkySensor 2000 GoTo System .

It can be used to quickly point the telescope using mobile devices and PCs.

 

IMPORTANT: For Wi-Fi adapter VixFi requires an external power supply 12V.

 

WiFi module settings are made from the WEB interface.

WiFi module works as an access point and can be used to connect all your astro devices to a single network!

Also, the WiFi adapter can operate in local station mode.

This WiFi adapter provides full wireless control of the telescope mount from a laptop or PC, and also works with the SkySafari PLUS (PRO) application for mobile devices.

To use the adapter on a PC, you must create a TCP-COM port bridge. HW Virtual Serial Port software creates a TCP-COM bridge allow Windows based astronomical applications comunicate through WIFi modules.

 

TO GET STARTED:

 

1. Connect your WiFi module VixFi in RS-232 serial port connector before turning the power of the telescope.
2. Turn the telescope. Then turn on your mobile device WiFi mode and connect to the access point with SSID – VixFi . By default, the network is open and no password is required.

 

Telescope control on the sample of  program SKY SAFARI:

 

1. After downloading the program, go to Settings, «Settings» button.
2. Scroll down to the «Telescope» section and click on the «Setup» button.
3. Select the type of equipment used «Scope Type –   Vixen SkySensor 2000» and type mount «Mount Type – Equatorial Goto (German)»,  also select the wireless connection type in Section Communication Settings -« Connect via WiFi ».
4. In IP address, type the address (192.168.2.1) indicated on your VixFi module.
5. In the Port field, enter – 1234.
6. Return to the main menu and press the Connect button.

 

If everything is done correctly, you will hear a pleasant sound, and the screen will display a crosshair with concentric circles showing where the telescope is looking, and on the sides there will be buttons for moving the telescope along the mount axes. Now you can point the telescope at an object using the large database of celestial objects Sky Safari. To do this, use the search – the “Search” button and select an item from the list, then click “GoTo”. It is also possible to point the telescope at an object on the screen.
